Inflation proof your own income
As the economy exerts downward pressure, oil, gas and hydro prices go up,
layoffs and job losses are at a high
- people start looking for ways to save money.
To start your own business in Canada, delivering an important asset protection and
money saving service makes a lot of good sense during these times.
Infrared Imaging is an essential service that is here to stay:
- Detect hydro wastage from leaks and hot spots
- Detect failing insulation
- Detect HVAC leaks and motor wear & tear
- Predictive maintenance saves not only money
but downtime and potential contract losses. - Electricians can spend days looking for faults
that you can detect within an hour - Map failed roofing insulation and save hours of invasive testing and gueswork
- Find the source of leaks in flat roofs quicker and cheaper than any invasive (destructive) testing method.
- Detect shoddy workmanship in window installations and general contrator work
- Detect mechanical faults, hot spots, and excessive wear & tear before components break down
- Preventative maintenance is made more accurate and cost-efficient when combined with infrared imaging reports (before AND after)
- etc.
Infrared Imaging Technologists provide an essential service. This is a specialized area of expertise and its simply not as easy as renting a camera for a few hundred dollars and just DYI - it takes your expertise and training to get the job done.

Winter is our top-earning time for residential dwelling work.
Skills required
If you take photos on a digital camera, manipulate them on your computer, and are not totally stupid about what goes on inside a house's wall or roof, and if you know what the inside of a machine shop or factory looks like - then you can be trained for this profession.
Computer skills - Associates manage contacts on the Internet and a lot of administration is done via email. We write reports every day, using mostly an MS Word interface integrated into the infrared reporting software. Manipulate JPG images' contrast, lighting, size, etc. Clip / edit basic short video ciollected from a camera. You will use your laptop/desktop computer a lot and your cell phone will be your BFF (best fried forever).
Building / Contruction skills - Associates have a rudimentary understanding what goes on inside a 2X4 wall and we are not totally stupid when it comes to understanding basic construction of dwellings. We don't touch electrical installations but we do know how, when and where to do infrared imaging scans of it. When it comes to working for a company in a plant / factory - no-one knows it all - we work safely and follow strict procedures.
People skills - any business relies on the ability of the sales people and the staff (you!) to make a good impression, make sales pitches, get commitments, and satify customers' demands. People who don't have those qualities are the first to fail in business.
Working conditions - IR technologists in the field often work with in hard hat and steel-tip boots. Often late at night, even in winter, you will find a tech walking around a building (mud/sleet or snow) doing her thing. We crawl attics and basements looking for HVAC, thermal leaks, and hydro problems. You will find us in factories and plants, high up on flat roofs and sometimes hanging from a pole somewhere. Chances are you will in the future probably lease a dedicated working vehicle for your business.
Here's the catch!
If we are anything alike in our thinking then by now you already thought to yourself, "So where's the catch?"
Here it is. We make money off you in two ways:
1) ZeeTee charges a monthly association fee of $160 - and we absorb quite a bit of costs for that fee.
2) ZeeTee hopes that once your business starts doing well, that you will be able to capitalize on the contacts you worked hard to make in your market eventually and sell some of the ZeeTee products to industry. We hope your business will become a well established dealership providing expert infrared technologist services and high-tech imaging and testing equipment to industry in your community. We are in this for the long haul - hope you are too.
3) The reason why we don't charge the usual market price of $30k to $50k for these franchises is because we (and others like us) don't yet deserve it - we are too small. The risk of buying into a franchise decreases proportionally by the number of succesful operational units out there -in communities similar to yours (up to a point, that is). People who buy in at a later time pay for the luxury of not having to do their own homework to assess the risk. Our prices will increase as we grow, and that sword cuts both ways because it also means that the franchise equity in your business grows along with each price increase. Should you wish to sell your business at some future time you will make your price accordingly, and add the customer base equity of the market you developed and brand awareness you created.
