How is infrared imaging different from photographs?

Photo (the word means visible light energy) graph (picture/writing) literally means what it does - it makes pictures of visible light bouncing off objects.

Infrared radiation (invisible to the human eye) is emmitted by all objects and is associated with heat. Infrared imagers detect this radiation and makes pictures of it. Therefore, these 'cameras' do not rely on light to get picture. These cameras only see temperature differences and represents that graphically.
